Family on menopause --

me: I hope when I'm old and go through menopause someone buys me a miniature pony to cuddle at night.
mom: Nah, too hot.

I <3 my mom sometimes.

Got an email from Jesse today.

Happy happy!

(ps, Rachel, call me when you get home)

Also, Dave called me the other day, yelled "gorehowl" into the phone, and hung up. I hate him and hope he dies. Or comes to visit me, either or.

Ronald Reagan is not an American hero.

Well, maybe he's considered one, but he most certainly shouldn't be. I have some problems with Reaganomics, but considering the state of the economy, something had to be done, and what he did worked. But his overly combative rhetoric unnecessarily heightened cold war tensions (thank God for bluffing Russians). He expanded the war on drugs to preposterous proportions, tying up valuable resources in something that simply isn't going to change, or go away. He blew miniscule military operations up, casting them as important and dangerous undertakings in the public eye.

In a time of war, we don't need another Reagan. Foreign policy wise, it would be on par (though differently) with another Bush. We can't have another Reagan, our luck just isn't good enough.

SO FOR GODS SAKE, REPUBLICANS, STOP INVOKING HIS NAME LIKE HE'S SOME SORT OF AMERICAN GOD.

I love xkcd because:

Boss finally called me today. "Err, I thought I'd called you last week, I'm so sorry, can you be here in 15 minutes?"

"Well, not really, no."

"Oh, okay. Er. I'm so sorry."

/sigh

I can't believe that I'm missing zack's last semester. When I go back to college, there will be:
no more cheese and wine nights (mostly without the cheese)
no more girly anime
no more comfy bed next to the drafty window
no more bone
no more hairy man to poke fun at
no more person I can trust with everything
no more dorky physics TA who will love me even if I ask stupid questions sometimes
no more Zack.

fuck, fuck, fuck.

I was thinking about picking up some languages again today, which got me thinking about intellectual presence in general, which reminded me of the fact that I may or may not (guess which :\) have done this to Ian more than once.

A few of you asked for newhair pictures, so here it is: here, w/ boy and here with just me.

I wish the color on the ends had come through more strongly.

Work, work, work. Today I have a lab to write up, a theogony to read, and a quiz to study for. School rocks.

Sometimes that boyfriend of mine says the sweetest things.

Resolution: Read more ancient history primary sources, I'm really enjoying reading Herodotus straight through. And find a copy of Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations. And start learning Chinese so as to capitalize on those family connections I've got now. And dye my hair, it's too faded and icky currently.

Can't wait to get back to school and see Ian and Dave and Zack and Andrew again. Heh, where did all my female friends go? Oh, right. Abroad.

In 2007, squyd resolves to...
Volunteer to spend time with not furries.
Ask my boss for a chocolate.
Tell my family about gay rights.
Lose ten trenchcoats by March.
Cut down to ten pineapples a day.
Connect with my inner taoism.
Get your own New Year's Resolutions:

Boss already gave me chocolate, already did the third one and last one. Lame.

If y'all could fill this out, it's for my Sociolinguistics project that's due in a week or so. The lovely developed the questions. Also, if you have any friends who are bored and want to fill the poll out, I'd appreciate it.

Read each sentence carefully and decide if the sentence is,
(a) Perfect English (correct, something you would use), (b) Acceptable English (incorrect, but something you might very well use in normal conversation), (c) Understandable English (correct, but virtually unusable) or (d) Unintelligible (incorrect and unusable):

To clarify
Acceptable - not necessarily a dictionary correct usage of the word, but something that would be considered usable in normal conversation

Understandable -- A correct usage of the word, but something that you don't think anybody would actually say

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DEMS IN DA HOUSE!!!!!!!!!

Um, yeah. Hooray for elections.

And WTG MT, Battle State, Woo! I should've known when we elected that bipartisan governer-deputy duo (D-R), but I never thought you'd be too close to call the next morning and swinging a little to the D-side. Which makes me really, really happy -- Senator Burns is a total ass, republican or not, so GOOD JOB giving him the boot, FINALLY. Your other Senator is way cooler.

And by those numbers, your voter turnout was pretty damn good. No surprise, though, that Lincoln County went relatively strong R.

I gotta email MRJ and squee at him.
